Artist Statement
I believe in making art that “hurts, provokes, and rises in revolt to make the world a better place, ” (Zentrum für Politische Schönheit, Berlin).
My practice is collaborative and interdisciplinary, moving between theatre, text, movement, and multimedia. Drawing on surrealism, absurdism, and direct audience address, I create works that interrogate power structures and ask how cultural memory shapes our present. My work seeks to disrupt dominant narratives and open dialogic spaces for critical reflection and intimacy. My practice continually evolves, but at its core, insists on performance as a site of resistance, imagination, and collective awakening.
I am grateful to acknowledge the Woi Wurrung and the Boon Wurrung language groups of the eastern Kulin Nations on whose unceded lands I live, work, and create. To honour their Ancestors and Elders, past and present, and recognise the long histories of art-making and storytelling on these lands. Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.
